What is a referral?

1. Specialist advice or care is needed depending on the case

Your primary vet decides that they’re not able to offer the right level of expertise, or they don’t have the appropriate facilities at the general practice.

2. Your veterinary surgeon makes a referral to our centre

Your primary vet will recommend that your pet be seen by a specialist consultant at a referral centre.

3. You are in safe hands with Swift specialists

These clinicians tend to be leaders in their field of expertise, with years of experience and very advanced training.

How do I get a referral to see a specialist at Swift?

1. Specialist advice or care is needed depending on the case

Your primary care or general practitioner will recommend whether they think a referral to a specialist centre is necessary.

2. The necessary details are passed on by your vet or yourself

They’ll either make a referral on your behalf, providing us with all of your pet’s medical information, or give you what you need to get in touch with us yourself.

3. In an emergency, your veterinary surgeon will make a direct referral

If it’s a case of an emergency, your vet will make an appointment with us directly. Our Swift specialists are experts in their field.
